Something a bit different...

So we came across Vitamin at the 100% Design show back in 2008.

As is often the case at shows like 100% Design, there is so much to look at, it’s kind of information overload, but having seen a selection of Vitamin’s products that day, I was soon online looking for some more info. I’m glad I did, as the company’s products often have a lot more to them than just great aesthetic design...

Take the “I.V.” planter for example. Now this thing certainly looks great - especially when you look a little closer and spot the medical drip-feed element. The thing is - if you are anything like me - remembering to feed yourself can be a challenge, let alone feeding your plants! So this great bit of design turns out to be functionally brilliant... As well as being great to look at, as it ensures your plants stay well nourished even if you don’t.

Then there is the interestingly titled X-Tray... Follow the link for some more info, but with so many of us enjoying growing fresh herbs inside, these pots not only look much better than a group of old black plastic ones, but can be put together in a number of configurations to capitalise on available space... Brilliant!

My favorite product at the moment has got to be the Tab A & Tab B products... Here we have a pair of stand-alone-beautiful vase and plant pots, that also contain a base that can be used to store away items you want to keep out of view (car keys, cash, James Blunt CDs!). Better still, the base can be used as an ashtray. Not only does this mean you’ve always got one to hand (I have found cigarette butts in the strangest of places after a party...), but it also means you can cover-up a used tray, keeping the place tidy and the smell confined!

We met up with Vitamin’s Ellie in the company’s London offices (within the superb Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane), who showed us the full range of products. Thanks for help getting the Vitamin range live on the Bau Outdoors site Ellie!

We’ll be keeping an eye on extraordinary products coming out of the Vitamin offices in the near future.
