Spring in the garden!

Hurray the sun has arrived, the pond is full of frog spawn, the mower has had it's first outing of the year and there's seed trays taking over every window sill in the house.

We finally managed to put the new cover on the polytunnel. There's still a fair bit of work to be done inside but it won't be long before i can hopefully get the squash planted out. I've already got a few seedlings out there hardening off.

Now that the cover is on and the trenches dug to secure it i can get on with sowing carrots and parsnips. I'm a bit late this year. This bed is in front of the tunnel and i didn't want to sow until i knew the tunnel was in the right position and trenched in.

My spring veg have been a pleasant surprise. I've had some of the cabbage and the Pak Choi but my Cauliflowers are all leaf and no cauli'. These are meant to be ready to harvest now. i think i'll leave them for a bit longer and see if anything develops.

Onion Sets

Asparagus

My onion sets are finally coming through and we've had our very first home grown Asparagus. No great bounty but a few spears with plenty more on the way. A taste of what's to come!
